WHY IS GOLDEN BUDDHA WAT TRAIMIT IS SO FAMOUS?
The reason why this temple is famous is the 700-year-old Buddha sculpture of 3 meters in height and 5.5 tons of pure gold. In the past, the sculpture was covered with cement to protect it from Burmese invaders. When it crashed 40 years ago, it was revealed that the cement was cracked pure gold. This magnificent sculpture is literally dazzling.
The monument made of Buddha’s greatest gold is found in this temple. In fact, nobody knew that this sculpture was covered with plaster outside and was from underneath.
Then, the temple, which was first built in 1950, was taken out of the way and when the sculpture was taken with ropes, it was sharply demolished and part of the plaster was poured down and the gold sculpture of Buddha was spotted under the spill.
