Samae San Island: How to get to Ko Samae San and more?
Samae San Island is a very little-known island of Thailand. Most people just visit Bangkok, Pattaya, Phuket, Phi Phi and return their home countries but Ko Samae San is a real hidden gemstone of Thailand.
This hidden gem is around Sattahip, Chonburi district and offers you a virgin nature with full of beauties. Thai Navy controls the island so there are some restrict rules for visiting the Ko samae san island.
Royal Thai Marine have used to not allow tourists to visit this great place until 3 years ago due to protecting nature and sea turtles. But, you can visit the island as a tourist with a thai person nowadays. That’s the new rule of royal thai marine. It looks irritating but it will worth to see and enjoy the island.
Maximum 500 people of tourists are allowed to visit the Ko Samae San for a day. Because of that reason, you should take the tickets at very early hours of the day as 6 am.
Take that note:
You are not allowed to stay in the Samae Island! You are just allowed to visit the island for a day trip, with a thai person.
How to get to KO SAMAE SAN?
The island is 1,5 kilometers away from the Ban Same, Sattahip. You can get to Ko Samae San from Bangkok around 2 hours. You can go there from Thai Island and Sea Natural History Museum. Boats departs from 9 am and returns until 4 pm.
You should visit the island with a Thai person. He/she has to show thai id card and you need the passport. Boat tickets and entrance to island is 600 baht for tourists, 300 baht for thai people.
What to do in Ko Samae San?
- Rent a bike and explore the island
- Snorkeling – scuba diving. Renting equipments are about 50-80 baht.
- Trekking in the forest
- Visit Natural History Museum. You can see whale bones there.
When to visit Samae San Island?
It will be good idea to visit there between January and April due to weather – climate conditions.
There are some rules you should know.
- Wearing bikini is now allowed.
- Alcohol is not allowed.
- You can not stay even one night. Tickets are just for one day!
